Art & Science Embrace: Tony Gerber at Denenberg Gallery
ARTIST’S STATEMENT: The work is based on algorithmic inference and computer programming, and is in a sense a fulfillment of a lifelong ambition to fully combine a background in science and engineering from my early days of research in machine learning, today called Al, and a lifelong passion for art.

“To see the world as moments, fleeting moments, rather than the continuous flow of daily life is what I search for. The power of a still image to capture a fleeting moment and make it a permanent memory has always captivated me.
The Pop Art movement of the 1950’s and 60’s, along with the Surrealist Movement that started in the 1920’s have greatly influenced my work.
My work is a reflection of the tangible world. I look for subjects that are in plain sight and work to capture them with unexpected representations. I try to remove myself from the everyday world, but the everyday world is seen in my photographs.” – Ed Justice Jr.

EDWARD KEATING MAIN STREET: THE LOST DREAM OF ROUTE 66
MAIN STREET is the culmination of 11 years of travels along Route 66 — the 2,400-mile stretch between Chicago and Santa Monica, called the “mother road” in John Steinbeck‘s “The Grapes of Wrath”. Keating ventured westward and back, insightfully documenting life along 66 and lives of Americans that have clung to it.
Louis Stern Fine Arts is pleased to present a series of rarely seen works by Doug Ohlson (1936-2010), created during 1969 and the first half of the 1970s. The paintings, consisting of brilliant orbs of brushed and aerosol paint that hover on richly colored backgrounds, represent a transitional phase in the artist’s career. Acting as a vehicle for his developing investigations of chromatic relationships, these process-based works facilitated Ohlson’s changing focus to color as his primary subject matter.
“L.A. Story” Group Exhibition at Hauser & Wirth West Hollywood
Inspired by the 1991 film L.A. Story, Hauser & Wirth West Hollywood presents a group exhibition celebrating the unique charm of Los Angeles. Co-organized by curators Ingrid Schaffner and Mike Davis, and in dialogue with the film’s writer and star Steve Martin, this exhibition features works by artists who depict the city’s playful and surreal spirit.
Opening with iconic depictions of Californian swimming pools by artists like David Hockney and Calida Rawles, the exhibition explores the everyday blend of the banal and the enchanted that defines L.A. From Florian Maier-Aichen’s dreamy Malibu coast to Mark Bradford’s abstract map of central L.A., the artwork captures the city’s multifaceted nature. Other artists include Ed Ruscha, Vija Celmins, and a new generation like Kevin Appel and Henry Taylor, continuing L.A.’s story as a contemporary art epicenter.
