“When I first began making photographs the urge to ‘get it’ generally resulted in some kind of action, or event holding the center of the frame. But as I grew and began to question my own methods, influences, and photography itself, I felt that it was time to let go of what I knew how to do well in order to make more tougher, more interesting photographs. To me that meant trying to move away from an ‘incident based photograph’ toward more of an overall ‘deep space, field photograph,’ where everything in the frame was of interest, rather than depending on a ‘hook’ to draw you into the frame.”– Joel Meyerowitz
“In this collection of intimate images, Barbara Davidson depicts the current American landscape, photographed through a prism of social injustice. She explores the complicated ways that inequality, empowerment, and hope connect and disconnect in our current cultural landscape.” – Barbara Davidson
