Born in the South Bronx to an Italian family, Steven Colucci’s childhood was colored by the
presence of iconic New York Giants athletes frequenting his father’s dry cleaning business.
Despite grappling with severe dyslexia, he found refuge in painting at the NYU Reading
Institute. Returning to William Taft High School amidst the tumultuous 1960s, Colucci’s
dedication to art earned him a scholarship to the School of Visual Arts. Further studies in Paris
under Etienne Decroux and Marcel Marceau refined his artistic voice. In the 1980s, he
pioneered a dance and mime program in New York, garnering recognition from industry leaders.
Collaborations with esteemed artists followed through the 1990s. Transitioning back to painting
in the late 1990s, Colucci’s works gained prominence, culminating in his haute couture debut at
the Mark Hachem Gallery, where he seamlessly merged his passion for various art forms.
